Happy holidays! Millions of people send these words to one another, along with ‘Merry Christmas’ and ‘Happy New Year’. Needless to say, companies also wish Happy Holidays to their existing and prospective customers. This is especially true for the businesses like Bellavista Collection, whose clientele lives all over the world. This brand sells its Italian luxury furniture to many countries, from EU to South-Eastern Asia and both Americas, so wishing just ‘Merry Christmas’ to all its customers definitely won’t be enough.
In today’s globalized world, the winter festive season actually includes a row of holidays from various cultures. In addition to Christmas and the New Year, among winter holidays are Jewish Hanukkah and African Kwanzaa, not to mention Celtic Yule that marks the winter solstice. You may celebrate any of them, or even all, if you wish. That is why, companies’ winter greetings have become pretty general, and that’s good.
In addition, many holidays, which once were purely religious, have already become a part of the global culture. You needn’t be a devout Christian to celebrate Christmas or believe in Chinese Astrology to remember that 2023 is the year of the Water Rabbit, which begins on January, 22.
The Charm of the Lunar New Year
Strictly speaking, the Chinese, or Lunar, New Year stands somehow aside from other winter holidays. Since it is calculated according to the Lunar calendar, the date of the first day varies from year to year. For example, this year of the Rabbit will begin on February 12, 2023, replacing the Year of the Tiger that lasted from February 1, 2022. The next year will be the Year of the Dragon, which will begin on February 10, 2024 and last till January 1, 2025. What is more, the Chinese New Year celebrations are also called ‘the Spring Festival’. Although it’s the middle of winter yet, from the astronomical point of view, such a name seems sensible: the winter solstice has already taken place, so the days are getting longer…
This holiday has always been special for Bellavista Collection. Attilio Zanni, the brand’s co-founder and the chief designer, has long been drawing inspiration from Oriental, primarily Chinese, motifs. Suffice it to remember the remarkable Dulcechina collection. This group of 12 pieces (the same number as that of signs in Chinese Zodiac, by the way) was such a success at the Salone del Mobile in 2018 that it is now placed in a separate section of Bellavista’s website. All the former showpieces became bestsellers shortly after the event and still remain extremely popular with customers.
That is why, on the eve of the Chinese New Year, Bellavista Collection re-furnished a part of its showroom, replenishing it with a number of beautiful pieces. The core of this ensemble is the iconic DULCECHINA bench in the Chinese style. Interestingly, other pieces, except ISABELLA, do not belong to the Dulcechina collection, but harmonize with one another well indeed.
Let’s take a look at this set.
The overall outline of DULCECHINA is laconic yet really stylish; this bench will easily blend into almost any room. The structure is made of multilayer poplar wood and can be veneered in either of the three kinds of oak: natural, moka stained, smoke stained, or grey stained oak. The comfy seat is padded with variable-density polyurethane foam, and so are the optional roll and back pillows. As to the upholstery, you will have lots of variants of both fabric or leather to choose from.
DULCECHINA’s dimensions make this bench a truly multi-purpose piece. It’s 240 centimeters (94.5 inches) wide, 54 centimeters high (21.3 inches) and 85 centimeters (33.5 inches) deep. So, it is large enough even to serve you as a daybed.
ISABELLA floor lamp also belongs to Dulcechina collection. It looks so elegant, with its lampshade, made of natural raffia, and the metal structure, resembling a bent flower. If you enjoy sophisticated design and natural materials, you’ll love ISABELLA.
MONET floor-standing mirror was designed relatively recently, in 2020. This mirror is rather large -it’s 210 centimeters (82.7 inches) high and 130 centimeters (51.2 inches) wide. The thin inner frame is made of brass with antique bronze finish, while the outer frame is wooden, with four grand-looking veneering options to choose from: ebony, grey sukupira, carbone larch, and white larch. And that’s not to mention glossy lacquer or matte lacquer finish, which is available in a variety of colors.
Design of DON PEDRO side table strikes the eye instantly. Its wooden structure is made of solid oak or walnut, natural or stained, with three options available for each variant. Any of these woods dovetail with the material chosen for the handle and metal details. Hammered brass with antique bronze finish is among Bellavista’s favorites.
One more attention-grabber is the table lamp named 4 STAGIONI, which means “four seasons” in Italian. The cylindrical glass lampshade and the base look grand in themselves, but it is the non-trivial optional decoration that makes the lamp look special indeed. The four small statuettes, depicting naked women, attract attention at once. The figures are sitting on the round lamp’s base and are made of the same material – cast brass with antique bronze finish. Most likely, these women symbolize four seasons of the year, following each other in a never-ending circle.
You can see the entire ensemble live, if you happen to be in the province of Brescia, where Bellavista’s headquarters, workshops, and the showroom are located. If not, you are always welcome to browse the brand’s website, particularly its section named PRODUCTS. It serves as the brand’s online catalog; here you can see there the above-mentioned – and lots more – beautiful pieces. Whatever product category you look through, you will surely find something you’ll want to have in your home. By the way, BELLAVISTA DETAILS category is especially worth your attention these days. Here you can see items that will make excellent presents for any of the winter holidays.
